We include standard shipping boxes from UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL, and common retail sizes. The calculator tests all available sizes automatically to find the best match. You can view the complete list by clicking on the box selector dropdown.
Alternative boxes offer trade-offs you might prefer. A slightly larger box may cost more but provides extra space for padding or protection. A smaller box maximizes utilization but leaves less room. We show alternatives so you can choose based on your specific needs.
Yes, but remember to account for padding. We recommend adding 1-2 inches (2-5 cm) to each item dimension to account for bubble wrap, foam, or other protective materials. This ensures the recommended box has enough space for proper cushioning.
Space utilization is the ratio of total packed item volume to box volume, expressed as a percentage. Higher percentages mean more efficient packing. For rectangular items, expect 60-85% utilization. Some empty space is normal due to geometric constraints of fitting items together.
