BoxVolume is a free tool that solves a surprisingly tricky problem: figuring out how to fit items into boxes efficiently. Whether you're shipping products, loading a container, or packing for a move, our calculator uses a proven 3D packing algorithm to show you exactly how items fit — and how much space you're actually using.

Under the hood, BoxVolume runs the EB-AFIT algorithm, a layer-based heuristic developed at the Air Force Institute of Technology. It tests multiple orientations and placements to find an efficient packing arrangement, then renders the result in interactive 3D so you can see the layout from every angle.

The four calculators cover common packing scenarios: fitting identical items into a known box, finding the smallest box for your items, packing a mixed item list, or distributing items across multiple boxes.
